WhatsApp-native. 50+ African languages. Clinician-in-the-loop. Settlement built in.
In one paragraph
Summary
Pawanax is a clinical intelligence platform. It takes a message, voice note or photo on WhatsApp in any of 50+ African languages, understands intent and context, triages urgency with emergencies escalated to human care immediately, grounds its answers in clinical guidelines with citations, and a clinician reviews, edits and signs every clinical plan before it is acted on. It is model-agnostic: several foundation models and proprietary components are evaluated and orchestrated per task on measured quality, safety and cost, so the platform improves as the frontier improves. Pawanax supports clinicians and families; it does not replace a doctor.
01 — The pipeline
How a message becomes care.
Six stages, from the first WhatsApp message to a completed action. One human checkpoint sits before anything clinical moves. Select a stage to see what it does.
- STAGE 01
Message
Any channel, any language
A parent, patient or nurse writes, sends a voice note, or shares a photo on WhatsApp. Input is captured in any of 50+ African languages and dialects, with no app to install, and it is built to stay usable on slow connections.

Clinician workflow · Doctor's Assistant
Clinical work stays in the clinician's hands.
Doctor's Assistant helps organize clinical inputs and prepare reviewable drafts. A clinician checks the original material, corrects the draft, and decides what to record or do next.
Open Doctor's AssistantStep 01
Bring the material together
Work with an image, a voice note, or a local document such as a clinic protocol.
Step 02
Prepare a draft to inspect
Organize observations into a note, or surface a passage from the supplied document with its source location.
Step 03
Review, edit, and decide
The clinician checks the original image or source, adds clinical judgment, and chooses whether to save or act on the work.
Drafts and examples support clinician review; they are not a diagnosis or a substitute for examining the patient and source material.
04 — Supported care flows
Fifteen journeys. One accountable system.
Every journey Pawanax supports, described by what it does for people and what it guarantees. Select a group to see its flows.
- Every flow is consented
- Every clinical output is reviewable
- Every emergency reaches a person
Emergency escalation
GuaranteeUrgent cases bypass automation and reach people.
Women's health & endometriosis
GuaranteeSupports referral conversations; never a diagnosis on its own.
Mental health check-ins
GuaranteeCrisis signals are escalated to people; it complements, never replaces, a therapist.
05 — Architecture
Model-agnostic by design.
Pawanax works with several foundation models alongside its own proprietary components, so the platform improves as the frontier improves.
- 01No single supplier is a point of failure: care continues if any one provider has an outage.
- 02The platform improves as the frontier improves, without rebuilding the product around each new release.
- 03Specific models and architecture are not disclosed, to protect our IP and our users.
Model-agnostic by design
06 — Safety and evaluation
Built to be checked.
Pawanax supports clinicians and families. It does not replace a doctor. Urgent symptoms are escalated to human care.
Clinician-in-the-loop
A clinician reviews and signs every clinical plan. Pawanax supports clinicians; it does not replace them.
Emergency escalation
Danger signs bypass automation and reach a human care team immediately.
Evidence citations
Clinical statements carry their sources, so they can be checked against the guideline they cite.
Red-team & regression evals
Adversarial test sets and regression suites run before release. A release that fails the safety suite does not ship.
Audit trails
Triage decisions, clinician edits and actions are logged with who did what, and when.
Consent-first data handling
Data is collected for a stated purpose with consent recorded, and it is never sold.
Security by design
- Encryption in transit & at rest
- Role-based access
- Audit trails
- Aligned with Kenya Data Protection Act 2019
- Data never sold
07 — Constraints
Built for Africa's constraints.
Phones, bandwidth, languages and money move differently here. The platform is designed around those realities first.
WhatsApp-first
Zero install. It runs in the chat people already use.
Low bandwidth
Text-first replies, voice-note input and SMS fallback keep it usable on slow networks.
M-Pesa & stablecoin settlement
3.5% all-in (2.0% platform + 1.5% opt-in health kitty) against a ~8.46% legacy Sub-Saharan Africa average (World Bank RPW, Q3 2025).
50+ languages
African languages and dialects, with cultural context in care conversations.

10 — FAQ
Questions engineers and regulators ask.
Which AI models do you use?
Pawanax is model-agnostic. We evaluate and orchestrate several foundation models plus proprietary components, and route each task on measured quality, safety and cost. Specific models and architecture are not disclosed, to protect our IP and our users.
Is my data used to train public models?
No. Patient and user data is not used to train public models, and data is never sold.
Does Pawanax replace a doctor?
No. Pawanax supports clinicians and families. Clinicians review and sign clinical plans, and urgent symptoms are escalated to human care.
How are emergencies handled?
Danger signs and emergency patterns bypass automated flows and are escalated to a human care team immediately. If someone is in danger, go to the nearest emergency facility now.
How is data secured?
Encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access, audit trails, and consent-first handling aligned with Kenya's Data Protection Act 2019.
Can we connect our EMR, LIMS or claims system?
Integrations run through our API and are scoped per deployment. Talk to an engineer and we will confirm your stack and requirements.
